Ennis born Vertigo Smyth releases his debut EP ‘Future Happiness’ with a Dublin launch night in Whelans on Wednesday 2nd April.

The debut EP was recorded with Ian McNulty in Andy Knightley's K Recording Studio in December 2007. With an incredible voice, compared to the likes of Jeff Buckley and Rufus Wainwright, his forthcoming collection of songs is highly anticipated.

Bringing intelligent and utterly charming indie pop songs with a heartwarming twist, Vertigo Smyth’s lyrics and melodies are truly endearing.

He quotes Elliott Smith, Velvet Underground, Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright and Beck as some as his major influences, and has performed in various venues over the past three years - which has built up his reputation as a highly regarded live performer all across the country.

He has performed alongside Irish artists such as Crayonsmith, Chris Brokaw, Nina Hines, Robert Blake, Waiting Room and Windings and has recorded sessions on TG4, Newstalk 106, and Clare FM.

Frequency Ireland ~ ”In Vertigo Smyth you get a bedroom Beatles, a bit of Bowie and doses of retro-indie, while justified comparisons with Jeff Buckley have also been made in the past, not just in terms of style, but in his ability to write songs which reach out.”
